To cover or not to cover? Part 1….

I have never really been a fan of recording covers of well-known songs. Although there are some great covers out there the idea of it has always seemed a bit strange to me, and it often sets you up for some pretty harsh judgement. However, I have covered some songs written by songwriters that I personally know, with their blessing. Tinlin are a band who I have worked closely with over the years and they were kind enough to allow me to guest spot on their album promotion tour gig for their gorgeous album, Strangely Blue. I will be releasing my own version of their haunting song “Perdu” very soon. Paul Carrack (Squeeze, Mike and the Mechanics) also chose to cover a Tinlin song “Make it right” while they were touring with him as his support band, which says such a lot about the quality of their music.
